Sonic Mini 4K is a resin 3D printer from Phrozen. It has a build volume of 130 x 73 x 130 mm and uses a 4K masking screen for fast printing. The machine is compact and light; it is on the low-cost side of the market.
Sonic Mini 4K is a step forward in Sonic series. Notably, this series was the first one to adapt monochrome LCD screens for masking, providing great speed without quality loss. The machine itself is extremely close to Sonic Mini version, though, upon closer look you can notice small changes:
UV Matrix in Sonic Mini 4K is paired with a 4K resolution screen, so the printing speeds are very efficient. The production time can be cut down even more through changing the pause between layers and the speed of Z-axis movement. However, it also seems that the machine has a default limit for the speed of platform going down, so at some point you’ll find the limit.
A small downside is that with the VAT design also comes a splatter of excess resin on the cover. It isn’t critical to the printing process or quality but can be frustrating.
Overall, this machine is reliable and prints fine details to a good quality. It is also efficient in terms of speed to quality ratio. If smaller build volume isn’t a deal-breaker, this printer will be a good starting point to resin printing.
