The test probably defined the method and material of 3D printing that best suits your 3D printing needs. Nevertheless, we have prepared a full review of all the 3D printing materials available for you at Treatstock.
Plastic
Nowadays, plastic is the most used material in the world of 3D printing. Majority of orders at Treatstock are made in different types of plastic via FFF/FDM technology (depositing material layer by layer).
PLA
Polylactic Acid Filament is the absolute leader among plastic materials. It is a biodegradable thermoplastic made from renewable resources, making it more environmentally friendly compared to other plastic materials. PLA material has good strength and durability, flexibility, some impact resistance, and is ideal for printing prototypes, consumer products, and small toys.
ABS
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene is a lightweight thermoplastic with low flexibility and is not considered food safe. ABS material exhibits high strength, impact resistance, toughness, and is ideal for moving parts, automotive parts, electronic housing, toys, and small parts.
Nylon
Nylon, also known as Polyamide, is a popular synthetic polymer that is strong, light, flexible, wear resistant, and less brittle than PLA or ABS. Nylon is ideal for mechanical components, containers, tools, consumer products, and toys.
Polyester
Polyester is a high strength, impact resistant material with good rigidity and durability. It is ideal for mechanical parts due to its high impact resistance and durability.
Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate (PC) is an extremely strong, impact resistant thermoplastic material which is widely used in automotive, aerospace, medical and many other areas. PC has great mechanical properties and heat resistance. 3D parts printed with PC are accurate, strong and durable. PC filament type has the second highest tensile strength among all FDM materials. The material is also bio-compatible and can be sterilized making it extremely popular for prototyping needs, functional testing, tooling and composite work.
Flexible material
The flexible material is an elastomeric material. It is capable of producing objects that are super-stretchable and survive punishment no ABS or PLA could tolerate. It is ideal for toys, novelty items, wearables, phone cases, and visual products.
Wood-like material
Wood filament contains a mixture of plastic and wood fibers that can give an object the tactile feel of wood, with the performance of PLA, and is ideal for use in home decor and unique items.
Resin
Resin is a liquid photopolymer that hardens when exposed to ultraviolet light and is recommended when intricate details or a very smooth surface finish is required. Resin is ideal for medical applications and in particular dentistry, and creating molds for casting in mass-production such as jewelry or toy making.
Jewelry Wax
Jewelry Wax is a material that is mainly used for lost wax casting. It allows you to mold a form which can be used to cast an object out of different metals. This method is primarily used for small parts and jewelry.
High-Performance thermoplastic
High-Performance thermoplastic is a group of production-grade thermoplastics which offer the highest strength and heat resistance compared to other plastics. It includes such materials as kevlar, fiberglass, carbon fiber and others.
Full-Color 3D Printing
Sandstone
Full-color Sandstone is a high-quality powder material that is capable of printing full-color 3d prints. It creates very strong parts, has great resolution and excellent color accuracy, all while offering a low-cost per print unit.
Paper
Paper is surprisingly a very tough and durable material. It enables 3D printing in over a million different colors. Furthermore, it is the safest 3D printing material, requiring no toxic materials in the printing process.
Metal
Aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, nickel, and cobalt chromium are the industrial grade metals that are laser sintered from metal powder. Machine construction, automotive parts, tool making, customized sporting goods, and customized production line equipment are some of the products for which these metals are used.
