...Plus protect itself if it has to. It can also provide some cover and protection for smaller units who dare to hide right behind it. ;-)
Growing in difficult terrain like swamps or alien jungles, it can be used for decorative purposes or as a unusual landmark. Different color schemes would probably look nice, too.
